OGIA was established in 1979 as The Oil & Gas Insurance Agency in Columbus, Ohio. The agency was created solely to provide insurance and bonding for the Independent Oil & Gas Industry. Originally operating only in Ohio and its surrounding states, the firm now maintains licenses in a number of other oil and gas producing states throughout the country as well.
The mission of OGIA remains the same: to provide competitive and cost effective insurance programs for the Exploration & Production segment of the energy business. This includes producers (lease operators), contract operators, drillers, service contractors, regional utilities, processors, and distribution systems.
In 2011, to further expand the agency's capabilities and service area, OGIA became a partner with the Hummel Group; an independent insurance agency with offices in Wooster, Orrville, and Berlin, Ohio. Account Executive, Jill Metheny, continues to manage the day-to-day operations and policyholder services.
OGIA continues to provide a network of insurance services for energy clientele. The agency represents a strong group of large international underwriters and regional specialty carriers.
